Hello my name is Tod Gaines I am a Boston area Artist { Painter, Poet, Photographer}
I was taking down an art show one day ,very slowly contemplating on what was going to be my next move? A young man standing behind me, asked: what is your motivation to keep painting? I told him the love of beauty.By the time Itraveled by public transportation and walked the 35 minutes it took to get where I lived I was tired, trying to find my keys I put the art work against the door, i thought about the young man's question.So i just turned around and sat on my front steps. I asked myself ' what is my motivation? to get all true answers you have to wait, so I sat there. while sitting , I looked up.the sky it was beautiful! amazing colors and vast open spaces. I asked myself how many people never take the time to just look up? how many people never realize what beuaty is right over their heads? i got up and decided to use my camera to capture the beauty of the moment along with painting with bright colors. every time I paint a painting that i think can't be copied, A angel out -does me and tells me to try again. The answer to the question" what is my motivation? I don't know am to busy working on a new art project.
have had 30 Art exhibits in the past few years all in the MA. area, I am part of a permanent Art exhibit at the Children's Hospitals located in Boston, Waltham and Lexiton MA. I also have a mural on the wall of Smith hall at Northeastern Un. I have had guest spots on local cable TV shows and my poetry has been published in 2 books one book is international.I paint with the comitment to try and bring enjoyment and pleasure to others, with the hope that bright colours and soft brush strokes with a pleasing subject matter will brighten up some ones life.
